So tomorrow is the Homecoming parade at UConn and the organization I'm in built a float this weekend. My committee head put me in charge of helping with the painting, and after 3 hours I realized that I never draw anymore and I MISS IT LIKE CRAZY. I know this is going to sound really really cheesy, but at that moment, I felt like I was kind of rediscovering a part of myself that I lost over the past 2 years. I think it got to the point where I didn't feel like I was drawing for myself and I was drawing more to impress people rather than impress myself. Anyways, painting this float with my friends inspired me and when I got back to my dorm, I sat down with a piece of paper and a pencil and I drew. As I was drawing, I would find myself smiling because I had forgotten how much I really did love it. Needless to say, I learned my lesson: never give up on something you love just because you are worried about pleasing the people around you. I will be drawing again and if I'm pleased with it, I'll post it. I won't be posting everything I did like before and I probably won't deal with Photoshop; I'd rather just do pencil drawings. So check back once and a while -- you might see something new ;]
